Whitney for Boyle we keep half Whitney's salary.

Adds big bodied center that can win draws.

I get sick a lot because my liver is finished. Remember...bout a year ago I explained this? Liver started dying for some unknown reason and I have no immune system because of it.

It's not getting any worse, BTW...just not getting any better either.

I wouldn't move Gagner at this point. He's improving in the faceoff circle and plays his heart out every night. Loved the big hit he made the other night too.

First off, get well soon!

I'm not sure if Karlsson is close to the best hockey player in the world, but terrible terrible loss. I agree about Cooke. Seemed like an accident. If you're Ottawa right now, I think you concentrate on nabbing Seth Jones in the draft. If Karlsson is done forever, you get his replacement, if not, you get the new top NHL pairing in four years time. Don't see them getting O'Reilly, with Spezza still under contract for a while, and Turris, Zib both viable potential top 6 centres.

Whitney wants to stay, I want to see him regain his form, but I don't know whether it's in the cards. Knowing our luck, he'll go off once he's traded and become the top UFA dman. How about overpaying by an extra 500 thou for a guy we had three months prior?

I don't know whether O'Reilly is the guy. I'm worried about the change you'd have to pay on top of what it takes to acquire him. Better or worse, Gagner is under contract and no matter what happens this year I don't think he'll become a 5 million player once the season ends. O'Reilly? sounds like he wants 4.5 + just to step onto the ice this season.

Can't wait to have Jones back. Would hate it if they traded him. Team grit is improved by having a rogue's gallery of guys who can throw a big hit on any given night. Jones certainly belongs in the Eager, PJ, Harti and Petrell category.

Weiss? We might be seeing glimpses that we'll get a Weiss-like player out of Gagner
Boyle? Yes please.
Dubinsky? I'd like to give it a try. Hemsky would be hard to part with though, from a team chemistry standpoint.
I'll add a guy like Jordan Leopold to the list. He has one year left, and the Sabres have a gaggle of NHL-quality dmen.

From what I understand the only guy the Jackets want to move is Mayor McCheese or whatever that guy's name is.

Cloutier, why do you think that Edm needs a left side DMan? Their entire prospect pool is filled with lefties, no righties.

Bailey may or may not be available, but he's been converted to a winger, and honestly has looked a heck of a lot more competent there than at center. If it's a center the Oilers need, Bailey's probably not an answer. Frans Nielsen though... Not sure the Isles would part with him since they're in love with him, but he's a good option for a third-line center.

Boyle for draft pick is moronic. Rangers are going to be competing this year..
Stoll for Whitney + pick is pretty brutal too. Whitney blows and has next to no value.

Justin Schultz and Jeff Petry are the Oilers Top 4 right-pairing guys. No problems there.

Ladislav Smid is solid on the left side, but he's not a puck mover. Nick Schultz is more of a 5/6 defenseman. Fistric is a 5/6 guy, Potter is a 6/7 guy.

So to be most specific, we need a left-pairing top level defenseman. Eventually that guy could be Oscar Klefbom, but until then...

The guy playing in the KHL?

I'm sure a new GM will be looking at more than moving an asset that really has no value to anyone this year.

My views on this is Dubinsky not going anywhere unless it is for Hemsky or better. Gagner is already worth more than the oft injured Weiss and should not be traded. Gagner has as much heart and the desire to win as anyone on the Oilers. On Whitney he can fetch a second if we wait until a team is desperate, Do I hear my Flyers snooping around?? Probably.
